Time Equipment Company modernized the parking system for Kaiser Permanente in Bellevue, WA.
Located at 1511 NE 10th St, Bellevue, WA, the Bellevue Medical Center is a medical facility operated by Kaiser Permanente in the Bellevue Medical precinct. This four-story, 190,000-square-foot facility, built in 2008, includes an ambulatory surgery center, behavioral health center, eye-care center, diagnostic center, pulmonary center, and a 24-hour urgent-care center. This site also includes 674 parking spaces on four parking levels.
Bellevue Medical Center is equipped to provide outpatient care, including surgery, to more than 1,000 patients a day, with overnight patients staying next door at Overlake Hospital Medical Center, essentially allowing Kaiser Permanente to provide a ‘hospital without beds’.
This location’s parking was previously operated using LPR and a QR code to pay parking charges. The technology failed miserably, leading to customer service complaints. Thus, the various vendors’ service response time was critical during the selection process for new equipment.
The operator wanted to switch to a more traditional approach using parking gates and entry/exit terminals and sought more local support to lower service times and costs. Kaiser Permanente liked the new system recently installed at Kaiser Permanente in Tacoma by Time Equipment Company, and this was also an important factor in the selection process. Kaiser Permanente locations use TIBA SmartValidation because of the flexibility to change the ticket into an in/out pass for single or multi-day use and the ability to track the individual validation.
Time Equipment Company installed new cloud software rather than the traditional onsite server, providing better security and control of the information collected. Two new TIBA MP-60 entry stations and two new SW-60 exit terminals were provided for two separate street access points. The CPS-60 Credit Card Pay Station was a new feature that the other system did not have and was installed in the first-floor elevator lobby. In addition, four new articulating Magnetic Gates finished the installation.
